bought the 250r for 900, aftermarket parts include full system dg exhaust, boyesen power reeds, k&n air filter, douglas rims, razors on rear, pro taper handle bars, new rear plastics, powder coated frame. It does have a oil leak at the drive sprocket, and the rear shock leaks oil fro the res.it only has about 60-70% power till about 4th gear(but getting more power every gear). the other thing is it revs for good bit after you let of the throttle. after taking off the seat I noticed it is missing the tube from the air scops to the air box. would that effect power that much?

Your power issue may be jetting. Have you checked the spark plug?

These two symptoms make it sound as though the jetting is lean across the board. This makes me suspect and air leak.

Awesome looking trike. Is this the one you were looking at, with the bad intake gasket? That would cause it to run lean. On 2 strokes running lean can kill the engine. Before you do any riding you will want to make sure it has a good air boot and O-ring under it. Looks like a real nice machine though.

@ 200xMichigan yes this is the same one:) I pulled the jet and it is a 130. I have a 142 sitting around, could that be big enough or should I go bigger and work my way down(does anyone know a good size to start with?). This is my first 2-stroke and I want to get it right. thanks guys

130 is probably too small. from what I can find a 158 was the stock jet on the stock carb.

I'd say check on that intake gasket. If your running the stock carb (PE23A, I think) I would at least return it to stock specs and go from there.

Ok first off don't ride it till you fixs these problems!

Remove the front sprocket, inspect the seal and make sure their's no chain damage in that area.

It's going to be a Seal that's leaking, but it could also be a cracked case at worst so inspect closely

The shock need to be serviced a-sap, remove it and take it to your favorite atv shop.

Study the manual, post close up pictures of area's that in question.

I took the sprocket off, the case looks good(no cracks) but the oil seal is just about as ripped up as it can get. so I order new seals, both intake gaskets, 5 spark plugs and some jets;175,168,160. I'm gonna put the 175 in and set the needle all the way out. If it gets back to idle nicely after a few blips I will do a plug chop and post pictures to see which way to go from there. Also can anyone give me a link to a jet kit, my carb looks like a Keihin PE 30.I will post pics of the carb to make sure I got it right

*update, It is a PE 30 carb, the leak for the rear shock is coming from the res.
