i finally had a little time to convert this bw 80 front suspension to fit a atc70,, i added a 70 tire so it wouldn't be so tall and still look more oem,,, i just won another bw front off ebay without a tire so i think i will do one with the 10" original tire too,, oh yeah i built some 2.5" bar risers for it too,,,

KASEY

THE STEERING STEMS ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT SIZE AND LENGTH. i had to remove the old stem and weld the 70 stem in the lower triple clamp. the front hub is atc and the sleeves had to be cut down ,, i don't think a stock tire will fit inbetween the forks , the tire i have is a little narrower than stock,, i am going to builkd a complete full suspension rolling chassis that will be for sale when its done..

I've been contemplating this same swap... i plan to cut the head tube out of the bw frame and put it on the 70 chasis, i figure its got to get stretched a few inches anyway... i'll be keeping up on this one...

KASEY

the problem with swapping the head tube,, its alot shorter than an ATC .. then the gastank comes into play for top and bottom clearance . thats why A+ stayed with an atc neck to avoid that problem,, now if you strech the frame out you might be able to get away with it,

since there is a little interest i will profile this build up. i picked up a beater pitbike, i am going to use the frame for this one, ita a typical chinese pitbike, nothing special, this won't be mine . it probably will end up in the kids garage when its done ,, this won't be an all out build either, it will be a more budget type build,, here are a few starting picts,, notice the totally different steering head angles? i will cut the neck off the pitbike frame and strech it 2 inches,, i will cut all the mounts and brackets off to while i am at it. since i already have a 70 neck cut off it will be easy to get it setup too,,, by the way i have a very nice motor out of the pit bike its only 50cc's but it runs great all the crap off the pit bike is for sale CHEAP,,,

Kasey: I'm interested in the pit bike parts, I noticed on your profile you don't receive pm's so if you could email me pictures (easier than making a list) and kill two birds with one stone that'd be great. elliotrepko13@hotmail.com <--- and fyi noo, I not 13y old:lol:

KASEY

these pit bike frames are real thin,,, i was suprised how thin this one was . so i think this one will be a little kids bike... i sleeved the frame 12 inches to help and will build some neck gussets when the motor is in so i don't have clearance issues. so the frame is streched +2.5 most of the junk is cut off. now i will get started on the swingarm,

We got all the yuppies in jersey who think they shart out jewel encrusted turds.... it's hard to find pit bike parts bikes for some reason. I wanna deck out/update my Rupp Hustler frame.....already got a re worked 5hp flatty(about 10hp) to go in + a new torque converter, she'll be a a lot to handle when she's done.

Sorry that's real off topic, that little 70 will be a beaut when your done with 'er :naughty:

well here is the donor frame,, the story i got was dad was going to cut it up and the kids talked him out of it,,, to bad nobody told dad to put down the welder!!!! so i ended up with a nice piece to add to the end of my swingarm,,, going to leave the stock brakes for simplicity and keeping the budget in mind,,,

I like what you're doing... definitely be watching this one. Mine is going to have a 185 carrier/brakes and axle... just a bit wider than stock :naughty:
If I had a late model 110, I woulda went that route, but sometimes you gotta use whatcha got.

well bad welding and all i got the swingarm built this morning,, i used the original shock off my A+ frame. its sprung pretty light for a smaller than me rider .. next i will add all the tabs and brackets for all the goodies to hang off of. mount the motor so i can see what i will do for gas tank and fenders..

Have you ever used Hym joints like that before?Since it is a bigger machine, what about a bigger tank?Like maybe a 1st generation 200x tank. Then you could have tank scoops.Just thinking it would fit the gap even maybe the seat also.Just my two cents.

KASEY
04-09-2011, 07:13 PM
nope! 70 all the way.. a 200x tank would be HUGE ... i wanted to be able to adjust the chain and i hate those spring skateboard wheel tensioners... so i went this way... and yes i have seen them used before ..

found bw80 front end on ebay but with out lower triple clap and found a 70 steering them with the 70 steering stem bolt up to the bw80 claps and then just slid up the bottom tripple clap on the bw 80 to hold in place? what axel for wheel is needed very interested in this.

KASEY
10-04-2011, 10:27 PM
no , no , and no,, to make the bw frontend work, you have to have a stock 70 steering stem,, cut it out of a stock 70 fork, then you have to cut the stem out of the bw lower, them you will have to have a bushung made to fit the bw clamp and the 70 stem,, you will have to set it all up in a frame get it all positioned right and weld the 70 stem into the bw lower,, all the while making it is all straight square and true,,,, good luck.
