I have an 85 250R and I was wondering what pipe I have on it. I always thought it was stock because it is black and looks just like a stock pipe minus the heat shield (it doesnt even have any bolt holes for one). The name on the back is "Sankei". I was wondering if this is actually a stock pipe or if it is aftermarket. Anybody else have one of these on there R?
Thanks Chris

I never had the heat shield off my 250r stock pipe, but I am betting that none of them have a hole actually through to the muffler. I bet they have a little riser or standoff tack welded to the pipe, with the threads in that. That way if someone loses a screw you don't have exhaust leaking out at that point. IF that in fact was the case, than it would be easy to toss the heatshield, pop off those risers, and then sand a little or whatever, and paint the pipe up where you couldn't even tell it had the shield. Good luck pipe hunting, not many people make them anymore, but at least there are a few choices compared to other machines (ie tecate). I know you can still get a FMF and a ESR, probably a paul turner, which would be a good choice. Dg I'm sure still makes one. I'm not sure who all else.
