Can A 3 Wheeler Be Made Street Legal In Ohio?

I was looking over the driving booklet and to get it under motorcycle lisc. it says no more than 3 wheels,handlebars cannot be higher up that 15 inches front seat and must have turn signals,taillights,headlights and seat must be firmly attached.
I was just wondering if its legal or not or if anyone has done it?...Im sure insurance for it would be high....

You could likely do a special construction title, but would be a long drawn out process, then again a short live axle and pavement is not a good combo, they are at home on dirt, clay and sand, you want to ride pavement you should really look into a bike...

my Idea was buy a old motor cycle and restamp the vin on a 3ww frame. You could make a cycle in to a trike and be legal.

Just a suggestion, don't re-stamp a VIN and take it to the DMV or State Police for a road worthy inspection unless your pretty keen on the idea of not being able to vote or own a firearm:D

I know im gonna get a Enduro style bike but I was just checking to see if the 3 wheeler could be done easily but I guess not.No biggie,I was just gonna use it to ride to my hunting spot instead of having to get my truck out everytime

From looking at Lifan engines a CM200 Honda Twinstar-street bike, has the engine same bolt pattern and sprocket offset as a 200X engine. Find a 200X roller, and a Twinstar, combine the two and title it as the CM200. Use all the turn signal, engine, side covers (with CM200 emblems), gas tank on the 200X frame. For all anyone would know its a CM200 trike conversion. You would also get E-start and dual exhausts.

i dont know about ohio but in Mi the live axle kills it. im pretty sure it could be pulled off with some DOT tires and some sort of differential custom made.

Maybe you can get an old kawasaki klt200c that has the rear differential legal i believe its the only 3 wheeler that doesnt have a solid rear axle, those things are supposed to handle awesome but they are slow and dont have rear suspension. But would make a good hunting machine.

I have a buddy that bought his 86 350x new in 86 and got his registered with plates back then and still rides it on the rode legally.The license bureau looks at him funny every time he goes and gets his tags for it but they cant do anything about it cause he had plates on it before they made it illegal.But if he sold it the new owner wouldnt be able to license it.

Having been pulled over before on my 1978 GS1000E, that was titled as my 1982 GS1100E. No it was not stolen, but some states require crazy amounts of paper work and money if someone forgot to register something within a year of the title being signed. Didn't matter when I got pulled over. One cop noticed, told him I made two bikes out of one, frame from one, engine from the other, its old, got a lot of parts from a lot of bikes.

In states like Michigan that do not require an inspection, I think the CM200 trike would work fine. Sounds funny but your decals and side covers tell the cops what you are riding. If you have Twinstar CM200 decals, tank and side cover, and engine, turn signals, brake and tail lights on a 200X frame, you get pulled over and everything but the frame is from a CM200. I think you have the right to customize a CM200? The only people who could tell it was a 200X frame under all the CM200 parts would be someone who like 3 wheelers.

Just sticking the VIN tag on a stock 3 wheeler would be asking for trouble.
