My 1982 185s has a gasket leak. I don't know which one it is (don't know its name). It is the one that is level with the exhaust guard. I am going to drop the motor to replace the gasket. Because the gasket is leaky and I drove it a little bit, should I check the rings and make sure they are not bad? Also, I was thinking about putting a new clutch kit in it. would it feel more responsive if I put a new clutch kit in it and how hard would it be to do that?
Thanks

I'd be tempted to look for exploded parts pix at bikebandit
or servicehonda to get familiar with stuff.
There's also manuals here on 'world class help' section.
The exhaust guard?, you mean like 1/2 way down the cylinder?
Oil is funny and be coming from almost anywhere.
I'd clean it off real good and see exactly where it's coming from.
A compression check should tell you condition of the rings and/or
see if it blue smokes for the first few minutes of running
or smokes all the time.
No reason to do more work ($) than necessary this time of year.
Sounds like it runs if you're thinking about a new clutch.
Did you try adjusting the clutch?...and what's it doing or not doing?
does it slip? or grab too late? you have to rev the engine before it engages?
