hey lads when i got my 200s it had no spark, i changed everything over from a previously blown bike onto mine and bought a new stator coil and it was fine ran awsome.
just tonite i wanted to take it for a rip up the road, the bike started 1-2 pulls as normal then shut off and wouldnt start!, so i checked the usuals-gas, loose wires, choke..then spark, i pulled the bike over while holding the plugg anf there wasnt even a tickle OH NO not again!...just for fun i diped the plugg in gas then reinserted it and within 3-4 pulls away she went but ran chitty...i let it idle for a bit then poper it in gear and went for a spin... missed and spit and shut off twice :@
when i changed everything for spark over 3 months ago it would start with 1/4 of a pull on the 2nd shot, now i have to give it a hell of a pull to get it going with the recoil. what do you think is going on now?

since you checked everything, how about something not so obvious.

Do you get spark to the engine ground with the spark plug cap off?
as opposed to just spark at the plug against the engine?

Hard to believe, but if you have the room, nip off the last little bit of the coil wire by the
spark plug cap.
an 1/8 inch is enough to get into some non corroded wire.

Costs nothing, takes no time and might work.

Surely you've checked all your grounds and connectors when to did the spark parts swap.

+1 with drjoe, I did that to mine and it made my spark much brighter. the spark plug boot unscrews.

i'll have to check that lads since it is an older coil, the wire may have to be snipped. i know when i pulled it over i had the spark plugg in the boot touching the head and there wasnt any spark at all.
and the plug boot on mine slides onto the wire and is quite loose..mite have to fix that as well. and when i pulled it over again i held the plugg and there was nothing! usualy you get a good shock but not this time.

Something that happened to my 1983 185s was the clearance between the pulse generator box and the ignition advance was too close. They ended up rubbing on each other and caused me not to have spark.might not be the problem in this case but i thought i'd throw that out there.

good point! my pulse generator box and ignition advance dont even make a noise, i used a ciggarette card board to set the space in between and its fine
so anyways lads, that coil wire has been snipped 1/8 of an inch and im back to 1/4 of a pull on second shot to get her going!!! wooot! your idea just saved me a bunch of headaches! thanks again.

YaY!

Hard to believe with all the rocket science we have, a lil' nip does the trick.
