before i start, the pics will be up next week. alright so i own a tired 86 200x. blew the rear shock so sent it out for a rebuild. being as its slow at work im on cl a good portion of the day. found a blaster in a basket. full fmf exhaust good wire harness the whole shootin' match. for 200 bucks. looked over at the x and said wtf why not. stripped both bikes today. prolly take about 5-6 hours worth of fab and the x will have the proper amount of strokes. best part... budget was set at 400 bucks for the project. picked up the blaster for 200, took all the parts i needed for the swap and sold the rest for 250. up 50. today was a good day. these are just mach ups, mounts will be made somethime this week!http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b46/snakpacs/Photo0007_1.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b46/snakpacs/200blaster1.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b46/snakpacs/200blaster.jpg

I had a blaster/ 200x, I was dissapointed about the power.. But I think it was just a tired motor and poorly done swap, if u do it rite it will be a great ride

I want to see pics of this process, I have been wanting to see someone who has done it completely, and what kind of power you get over the stock 200x motor.

The time I remember on a Blaster, it didn't really feel all that powerful, especially in 6th gear when it would bog down going downhill, but maybe that's because it's about 50lbs heavier than a 200X

a typical blaster may not be real powerful, but thats because most are ridden by kids or small adults on a limited budget.. the blaster engine has loads of upgrade potential. And with any 2-stroke swap the execution of the pipe alteration makes or breaks the success of the swap.. You can lose alot power real quick with a hack job pipe.

My ex had one, we threw on an exhaust, jetted it up with the oil injection blocked off and removed the air box lid; It was very quick at that point and look at all the stuff Vito's offers........

The factory injection is very rich.

sure is! im doin the swap at work. didnt feel like having to bring home tools and forgetting stuff. plus with a torch, welder and some fresh eyes around to solve any issues i come across is always nice! the only hard part is gonna be to find the time to get down to fazio's to get some steal plate for the mounts haha the place gets nutts sometimes

People always put the Blaster down. The machines biggest downfall is the brakes. With just a pipe and some other little mods it was a pretty quick machine, especially for a kid.So in a lightweight 3 wheeler should be a fun machine.Always thought it would be fun in a 200x.There is alot of both laying around.Hardest thing will probally be the pipe.At least one that will help the motor run better.

the appeal to the blaster is that there are so many of them and parts are really cheep. ive ridden a friends lightly modded blaster and the thing was a peppy fun ride. roller to roller the x has to be somewhere around 20-30 (ish) lbs lighter. plus the x engine vs the blaster engine is another 15 or so lbs difference. the goal to do as little changes as possible to the exhaust. fabbing up an exhaust spicket with a better angle and we might be perfect. hopefully haha when its all done i have a feeling she'll be a runner. and if its not enough to keep up with my buddies r's.... welp theres always the vito's kit!

I had a blaster with a 240 kit. a FMF pipe, and a few other ends and odds. that thing would fly.. I bet it would be a blast in a 3wheeler... Especially a light 200x

THIS IS BLASPHEMY!!! crossing a Yamaha and a Honda..... no, just kidding. this should really be awesome if done right. one of my friends had a blaster and had a bigger carb, exhaust and maybe it was ported and polished, i dont remember but it was very very fast. impressed the hell out of all of us.

What did you have to do with the pipe?It almost looks like it is untouched. Can't wait to hear the report on how it is on the top-end.Always wondered about such a conversion.Looks like it easier on the 2nd generation 200x.

only had to cut and reposition the tip of the pipe. on the silencer we moved the mounting tab and did another cut to get the muffler straight. no changes were made to the size of the exhaust just changed up some angles.

and for anyone keeping count, yea the headlight is from a 1970-something cb750. this bike is a true Frankenstein. we used tid bits from toyota, ford, a banshee, blaster (obviously) and some other scrap. including rebuilding the top end the whole build cost about $450-500

Put the front fender and air scoops on! I wanna see what she looks like wearing the rest of her clothes....

Could we have a dead center frontal picture? I wanna see how far that pipe sticks out.

I really want to see a video of this bike rippin. Damn that looks like a sweet swap, can the scoops on the tank clear the expansion chamber? What was all involved in the swap other then a few front mounts and some spacers?

step one was cutting off the rear mount of the engine. where the swing are bolt would go through if the engine was in a blaster. the rest wasnt too bad. im an auto tech and we did the build at work so we have lots of spare crap laying around that really helped. for the exhaust spicket for example we found a section of exhaust manifold from a 4.0 that had the angle we needed to clear the frame. there wasnt really any difficult problems to overcome but a bunch of "damn that allllllmost fits" sort of tweeks. two cuts and turns for the exhaust.

Old thread I know! BUT wondered if there were still some finished pics of this swap still out there? I'm thinking about doing the same swap! Thanks
