I just bought an 85 200M a couple of weeks ago. When I got it you could crank it and ride it around and it would run, but when you let off the gas and stopped it would go dead. After posting that on here, I got suggestions to clean the carb, I took it off and apart and found it to be clean (I cleaned it again anyway).
After putting it back together, it hasn't changed the way it ran. I adjusted on the carb the other night and now have it idling OK, but when you let off the throttle, it takes it a few seconds to rev back down. I am not much of a carb guy and I am not sure what to check or adjust next. I am real close to having a good running trike, I just need to work out that last kink in the carb..... any suggestions? What would you do first or next I should say?

Firstly, I would go over the whole trike front to back. Give it a basic tune up and once over. I would lube all your cables. Check and oil your chain real well. Check your air filter and clean and re-oil as necessary. I would check your spark plug, possibly replace and regap. I would check your clutch adjusment. I would change oil and clean your filter screen. I would inspect and adjust my brakes and check for brake action and correct what ever is needed. I would lift the trike off the ground and check my front and rear wheel bearings for proper operation. I would check my timing. I would check my idle after that. I would remove my intake boot and check how my carb slide was working, to make sure that it was not hanging up while moving up and down and to make sure it was seating all the way to the bottom of it's travel when there was no tension on the throttle cable. I would recheck my idle and recheck my air/fuel screw and adjust that. I would also make sure to have a shop manual either on paper or one downloaded and go over that to make sure of what all I had to do to make sure I was doing my checks and adjustments properly. It won't hurt to go over your trike for a tune up every month for a couple months to make sure all is well and that you know what to do to make all your adjustments.

make sure the throttle (piston?) that the cable goes into is not sticking a little bit. if some of the tiny jets are not clean it might cause a little fuel to be in the intake path( having to burn that up before it can idle. on ebay there are a ton of repo carbs for around 30 bucks I bought one for a company in miami and it works great.

All are good ideas. What I'm reading is your air screw is to far out. Screw it all the way in and then back it out one or two turns. Use that as your baseline and go from there. Pay attention to what the staring point was cuz every carb is different. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I am really enjoying my new trike.
