helllo i need some help with my atc.

i have a 83 honda big red 200e. the motor has a ticking wen its just idling but when i give it gas it goes away then it comes back wen it idles. so i checked the valves and thats not wats ticking . does anyone know what the problem could be? please help

someone told me it could be my wrist pin int he motor. could it be?

Could it sound like a timing chain slap?
There are manuals here on 3ww.

I forget if the 200 has an auto adjust timing chain tensioner.

If it has one you can adjust, there is a nut or bolt that is Never supposed to be loosened
so be careful.

It would also be nice to know the exact timing of the tick.

Is it with every exhaust pulse?
twice as frequent?
Half speed of the crank?

That will give you an idea if it's valve train or crankshaft related.

its coming from the cam chaine area and its a repeated ticking noise until i give it gas.

sounds like chain, just d/l the manual and it will step you though it.
