I just use some high ankle work type boots. I tried MX boots but the sole was so stiff I couldn't work my shifter.

I have the same problem. MX boots offer far more protection and I would prefer to use them. I just can't get the feel for them though. :(

I was going to get these Axo's (a whole pile of types here): http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/3/16977/ITEM/AXO-Slammer-Constructor-Shorty-Boots.aspx, but decided to save the coin and just got hiking boots. I don't like the feel of tall riding boots either. Lot's of shorty's for cheap though. I make my kids wear boots, next to the helmet, those are the most important gear to wear.

Don't do the work boot thing, not a good idea. A good friend of mine just wiped out a few weeks ago wearing work boots and he is now confined to a wheel chair with 7 screws and a plate holding his bones together. Keep looking, I'm sure you're not the only rider with this problem.

Gaerne makes a great boot that fits my "Tree Stumps", I would check them out. I ran over my foot about 7 years ago, on the ice, with stud's and neadless to say, I wear nothing but riding boots now, my work boots saved me from extensive damage but it still was not pretty!

They are a bit expensive but.......................well worth it IMO. Priced anywhere from $325-$499 depending on what model you are going for.

I have some nice Thor mx boots and they are alright for the most part. It does kinda make shifting more of a pain. Maybe have to look into those 50/50's
