snow tires substituted for balloon tires?

Anyone ever try snow tires for use as a balloon tire substitute on unsuspended machines?

I thought about sand paddles for snow but you might bottom out with 1 spin.

i bought some ams zippers for my 200s.. i replaced them with knobbies before i even rode it... I cant imagine the snow tires would last very long at all on any hard or abrasive surfaces

i once had a 200es that had studded car tiress welded on to the rear hubs. It was really bumpy, had no traction, and just plain sucked.

you mean maxxis 4-snows as every day ride tires....

i wouldn't. they seem real soft and would wear fast, and could be popped easily.

I was looking at Kenda Snow Mad. I was thinking they would be something like the balloon tires that came on the old Honda 90s in the 70's.

Part of the reason snow tire work well is because of their compound, nice and soft. They are soft so they remain pliable in low temperatures. In normal or higher temperatures they are much too soft and will get torn up on dirt, rocks, asphalt, anything. Sure, you could use them year round, but you would be wearing them down super fast. Some people have had good results using them in drag situations, but I don't think they are after longevity or lateral performance.

I feel ashamed of my self now. I've still got my pro wedge on my trike and i'm still running them no in the snow lol

The backyard where they are in though, is just dirt, fortunately, they look the same as when i got them - worn out lol.

They seem to offer a much more comfortable ride to me, but as other said, at the expensive of wearing them out.. i need to switch back over to knobbies.

try a 2 ply knobby, should give you a smooth ride. 2-3 PSI

I saw somebody do that last year. It actually worked pretty well.

I had a buddy do it with a raptor with ITP paddles that were v shaped scoops. worked good
