The liquid chrome polish in the green/white can always works for me. With a little elbow grease of course.

All of these are OK, But nothing beats fine STEEL WOOL. It cleans and polishes at the same time. "STEEL WOOL" anybody back me up on this.....simply amazing what this stuff can do.

350xrules thinks so too. = )

X2 on the aluminum foil, and with some coca cola. I read that in a magazine years ago, and it works very well.

The best way to clean off rust is spoke acid. You can get it at most auto parts stores. Its origionally designed to clean the chrome wire spoke wheels on show cars. Before spoke acid they used to use a shoe lace and dip it in chrome polish, then wrap it around each spoke once and go back and fourth up and down each spoke until it was polished. It works AMAZING on chrome. Spray on and hose off, for stuborn rust, alittle rub with steel whool takes everything off. Try it on you chrome car or truck wheels you will be amazed at the results.

I think steel wool will be to aggressive and scratch/dull the chrome. I have heard about the aluminum foil trick. Someone once told me aluminum foil and wd-40.

I have a very soft wire wheel I throw on a dewalt drill. I spray a little WD-40 on it too.

FYI, aluminum foil and wd40 did the trick. Easy and fast. The pipe had quite a bit of rust and it cleaned up pretty nice.

Max - Chrome is one of the hardest metals (coating) known to man - you will not scratch it with SOS or steel wool. I've done it a million times cleaning rust off everything from head pipes to an old set of chrome wheels I had on my toyota to chrome bumpers.

Just a heads up! - oh - also - SOS is great for taking oxidation off of old aluminum stuff - brings a shine to it even (like aluminum triples or motor cases).
