Guys, rebuilding an '86 250SX. I've done most everything on my old 125m's but I never had to remove the header pipes for virtually anything because of the way the engines were mounted in them........that's not the case with this beast.

I'm almost to the point of putting the exhaust back-on, and I thought that I should use some kind of sealant for all the exhaust joints. I cleaned them up really well, and there does'nt appear to be any residue from old gaskets or sealant which I find strange. I haven't found any literature that gives me a clue. I'd assume there has got to be some type of high temp. sealant or a gaskets I should need? Please help.....Thanks!

I've never used any sealant. For the header/head joint, use a new copper crush gasket. For the muffler/header joint, if the graphite gasket is smooth and not damaged, it is reusable. In a pinch, I've reused the copper crush washer at the head before, but they are pretty cheap and easy to get at the local shop so I just play it safe. But, I don't put sealant on it.
