Hey guys, new here on the forum. I'm hoping to find all the info I need on a three wheeler that was given to me in VERY rough shape. It's a 1984 200X I believe. I've been looking at pics on line and I don't think it's an SX. I don't know the difference, so maybe yall can tell me. Anyway, this will be a very slow going project since my main hobbie is Diesel truck sled pulling (tractor pulling) and the season opens next weekend. But what I'm gonna need to know is pretty much everything. LOL

Where to find motor parts.
Where to find cables etc.
Where to find plastics.

This three wheeler has been sitting out in the TX weather for probably the better part of 8 years. So you can imagine it's pretty rough. But on a high note, the oil that came out of it was not milky. But I will probably tear the entire thing down when I get time to go through everything.

So, long story short, If you guys have info on things to watch for, do's and don'ts with this machine, I'm open for any and all suggestions and comments. And most of all thank you all for your time. Looking forward to getting this started.

Hi Cody - I live in Leander. I have 2 84's - you should be able to see them in my album.

I buy parts on the forum, on eBay, and from various on-line vendors like BikeBandit, CheapCycleParts, RockyMountainATV, etc.
The best thing about the 1st gen 200x (83-85) is Honda sold a bijillion of them so parts are generally cheap. However, they can add up quick.

On both mine, all the bearings (front wheel, rear wheel, swingarm pivot) were shot. As were the brakes - stuck calipers and leaking stuck masters. Chains and sprockets, too. And plastics. And seats. And most of the tires. Tanks rusted and leaking. Missing parts. It adds up. I enjoy working on them but if you don't, it's generally cheaper to buy the nicest one you can find.

LMK if you have any questions!

jb, I'm surprised that someone has these things so close to me. Sweet! I will definately have questions. It looks like you are doing an awsome job on yours. I so dig the double headlights on the one. The pic you have of them sitting together all weathered is about what mine looks like. That reminds me, it has a hole in the side of the gas tank, so I'm going to need one of those as well.

Oh, one thing I did notice on this bike is there is a plug at the back of the engine facing the swing arm that is missing. I need to find one of those as well.

bc, duely noted on those XR parts.

Thanks for the replies guys. jb I'll shoot you a pm soon and we'll have to talk when I have more time. I'm at work right now. But definately glad to know your up there. One of my guys on our pulling team lives up there by you. Over by Hamilton Diesel.

That plug is probably the bolt that holds the kick starter from rewinding to far. Most likely the kick starter will need to be done over, which means an entire engine tear down. Pm me with questions if you do it, I just did mine, and there are a few tricks you should know.
