So I ordered and replaced my Tecates petcock with the yamaha big bear one that you guys recommended and its pretty sweet and fits right in... Except its like not completely sealing and dribbles out between the tank and the petcock and by the bolts... What am I doing wrong? Do I just have to smooth out the surface between the mating areas or what?

I use a different petcock and I cut a gasket out of gasket material and use Hondabond on both sides of the gasket.
3 different tanks,,, no leaks.
The gasket material from my guys uptown comes in a flat sheet that I will never ever use up in my life time so if you need some, PM me your address and I will mail out a playing card size piece of it.
I don't know if this picture will be good enough to show the gasket sandwictched in there or not but there it is. gray stuff is Hondabond. Yamabond will do the same just as well.

I'll just have to try that, I was hoping I'd be able to get away with just poppin' it on there and hoping she'd hold xD I was kind of in a hurry because I was trying to load up my trailer before the sun set so i just yanked the entire tank off my '84 tecate and threw it on the 85 haha

Fabio told me the other day that over time the inserts pull out of the plastic, preventing a good seal.

I'm not sure if thats your issue but they should be flush; I think he just filed them down flush.........

I don't know if the gasket softens with gas or what, but I had one seal up two different times just by letting it drip for awhile onto a rag. Also seemed to work if I turned it on till it dripped, then off.
