This is what happens when steel-belted tires on steel split rims sit out in the weather for a few decades.

The tires had plenty of tread on them, but had numerous cracks and wouldn't hold air. I had used them to roll my project 200x around the garage, figured I could remove one side of the split rim, clean up the inside of the tires, put in tubes, and use them for trail rides that I knew would chew up tread (already have new aluminum rims and tires for project) - but just getting this far took several hours, lots of sweat and cusswords, and far too many tools. I ended up having to use a reciprocating saw to cut the sidewall away from the rim.

I love rust seals, they hold in air very well. Too bad the rubber was cracked !

yep...see that more then once, most of the time new tire will not seal , and you will have to use tubes or get better rims

Ha love how the tire can be rotted away and the tread on the trail pro is still good to go!! Cockroaches and trail pros will be the only thing left after the world ends.

Too bad there isn't a way to mount the TrailPro right to the axle and eliminate the weakest part of the equation, the steel rim
