3rd time crossing open water. On purpose. 30 feet long about 6 feet deep. There are a few good spot to do this on my lake.

I only believe this because i couldn't sleep one night and watched about 30 videos on youtube of various atv s and dirt bikes hydroplaning. My jaw was on my chest the whole time.

You can water skip a trike, I've done it with an old ATC200. I had more fun skipping mud. You should have the right tires, and get way back on the thing. I skipped almost 750' of slush on my lake once at about 90mph. But be warned, they don't skip well, and nose in pretty fast.
This video comes to mind:

God damn rain.GRRRRR 30-60 mm expected. Hopefully not that much rain. But at least it wont be snow. That would ruin my approach big time. To water ship there are a few things to remember. First wheelies are great for puddles but no long spaces. Also you need a level place to get a good apporach. Going down hill into water is not a good idea. If that front tire starts to get traction your done. I was doing 5th wide open but had to slow down to make a turn through the narrows on my lake. I think this would be a sweet vid If i can pull it off on film.

ive done 20 foot on a 200x at about 40 mph anf 40+foot at 55+mph on a suzuki z400 i got pics of the z400 skip on myspace page, ALL I CAN SAY IT WAS VERY STUPID I WONT DO IT AGAIN! as you can see in youtube videos theres guys skipping 100+ft on quads but there in the desert not open ice holes, moral to the story is its a good way to break your neck or drownd

Yeah just like 60 foot jumps on a 3 wheeler. Never happening. There are always there rare few that take on the statis quo. It got real cold last night and might have frove up enough to try again. hahahah That trke in the lake with the realtors is a classic.

I use to hydroplane my 250r over large puddles (10-15 feet) on one trail I use to ride on. That is untill I hit a rut in front one, lost traction, and came to a dead stop in the middle of it.
Sitting in middle of big puddle + seized motor from water hitting engine in said puddle + almost getting thrown from bike into puddle = not fun and lots of hurt.

I don't do it anymore.....
