Today i traded my fairly newly acquired 85 200x. decent running shape, one exhaust bolt broken in the head and a small crack in the rear plastic. For an 85 bw200, fresh rebuild on the engine, the guy had all the documentation of the work done.

I had to make the trade, How do you think i did?

I don't know.. toss up.. You have to ride it, how do you think you did? How do you like the Big Wheel? I'd pick one up if I found one near me..

The small amount that i have driven the bike i really enjoyed, a little slow upon takeoff but lots of torque. Seems like a solid bike

What kinda tire could i put on the rear? The original is bald and dry cracked

Here is a pic after i cleaned it up a bit at the carwash. The plastics seem to be in good shape they just need to be sanded. Needs new front fender and seat cover. Any exhaust options for these bikes?

Yes i did i will admit, although i figured that since i have had my 86 200x that bikes comes first and is a way better ride. I had to do it, i never see these big wheels come up for sale around where i live.

I would have done it too, esp. your location.

You'll have a blast with that!!

All the haters don't realize something, fatcats and bigwheels are Honorary Trikes.

I'd have made the trade as well.

I wouldn't have traded if it was something I was going to have to ride but I would say the BW is worth more, so from a value point of vieew I would say you did well. I've ridden FatCats (never the Yamaha) and just didn't like them.

I have always wanted to try one of them. I might buy one in the future if I see one for sale. I never had, I think I will have to end up paying someone to make one for me

is it just me or is that a TRI-Z front rim and tire ?

i would have said that i wouldnt have done it, BUT... since u say u already have an '86 200X then yeah i would have done it. u need to include that bit of the story into the first post. u might get friendlier replies, i mean u r on 3 WHEELER WORLD. if u ask "did i do well or not?" and anyone reading just sees, "got rid of my 3 wheeler for something with 2 wheels......"

the tire is a half inch diffrent in size i think? but the hub and wheel are Triz from what i was told.

I would have traded for the BW, 200x's are a dime a dozen. Bw's are hard to find in good shape

I agree with you Tattool23 i was brief with my original explanation of the trade. I will always have multiple 3 wheelers, i was just curious of this bw 200 as i have never seen one in person before i made the trade.

Does anyone have any ideas for a replacement silencer? MY stock one have multiple holes in it and is very loud.

Not only are 200x's a dime a dozen, it was a first gen no less.

Wow i am finding it very tough between ebay and different forums to find parts for this bw200. If anyone has a stock carb any condition forsale let me know.

Heck yeah! I'm 3 wheels all the way and I love my 200x but in all honesty 200x's are a dime a dozen. The BW is a much harder fish to catch, fix er up and ride the p!ss out of it!

200x's are a dime a dozen

Not in canada they're not

matt86200x

In canada the 200 models are common, but they are beat to hell, when i put up add's wanting 3 wheelers/running or not i always have tons of ppl emailing me with either 200 utility or sport models mostly in real tough shape for under a grand. The odd 86/87 shows up but they are not cheap. Everyone here in Manitoba thinks their wheelers are worth big bucks$$

Does anyone have any ideas for reconstructing or shaping my own seat foam on the big wheel? I can make my own cover i just don't know what to do with the actual foam back to a nice look

Man I would have traded in a second, maybe not if it were my only trike, but first gen 200X are super common, and if you got an 86 200X, and a couple other 3 wheelers. For a real collection of toys the BW200 adds something trike-like but in a bike. I sure would try to snag one if I could. I've never seen one up close and I guess that's really half the fun of it, it really is like catching a fish....great score. Got any snow to try it on?

For the foam I have seen videos of people using those electric turkey knifes for cutting new foam into the right shape. Never tried it myself but in the video it looked like it worked good.

OOOO i have tons of snow here, i just need to find a good used carb for the bike and i am good to go. Would you be able to post a link to the seat foam video you are talking about.

It was years ago I saw the video. I'm sure there's something on youtube. I don't remember where I saw it, think it was one of those motorcycle building shows on cable TV.

I would have traded if i had an 86 to ride also.

For the seat recovering, do what I did. Call around to some auto re-upholstering places and tell them what you want to do. Take the seat in its current condition down to them and let them look at it. I found one down here in Houston, TX that replaced the foam and recovered it about 2 years ago for about $70 U.S. Shop around. If you want to do the shaping yourself, this guy had an OLD SCHOOL pistol-grip, heavy duty soldering Iron with an attachment on it that looked like a huge C-Clamp on the end with a thin wire running across the narrowest part. It cut through the seat-foam like butter! I seem to remember something similar in plastics shop back in High School that would cut through Styrofoam the same way!

Hope this helps...

Sorry, Down in Texas we say like butter...What I meant to say was 'like a hot knife cutting through butter'

I know what you meant haha. Today i took it to a few places and not one wanted to tackle the job so i guess my search continues
