Just picked up a 86 Tri-Z. The free manual on the site was printed in 84, and covers the 5 speed first gen Tri-Z. After doing a little research it looks like they changed more than just adding a gear to to 86. Different swing arm? and larger diameter front forks. Is the Tri-Z manual for the 85 going to be useful at all?
The main thing I need it for is the actual specs, i.e fork oil capacity, jet numbers, etc, Not the simple stuff like fixing brakes or bearings.
What was the VIN number that will tell me if one is an 85 or an 86?
Also I am hoping to get some parts from this Tri-Z if they will work, rear swing arm, shock, and forks? Were the 86 forks a lot better than the 85's? My uppers are pitted but other than that they are in good shape. My swing arm was welded to repair a crack, I would like to get these parts if they will work on my Tri-Z.
