I have a 185s, and I'm wondering what type of oil I should be running it, I've got 10w30 in it right now, some guy that thinks he knows everything but doesn't always, says i should have something different in it? what do the "experts" say?

10w30 seems about ,right. I always used Honda oil 10w40 in my 200s and 250sx.

I also use Honda GN4 10w-40 in my trikes. Been running it in my 200s for almost 8 years now and it's still on the original motor. I think that's a pretty good testimonial! Hope this helps

Aren't you supposed to put a thinner oil in the motor in the winter? i didn't think you're supposed to use the same oil all the time

The manufactures recomend the thinner oil in the winter (10-30W) and the thicker oil (10-40W) in the summer time. It really depends on where you live though. If you live in an a hot place like Flordia I recommend the 10-40w in the summer since the extra heat will break the lighter weight oil done faster.
On the other hand in winter up north and your running the thicker oil still it will take longer when the engine is running to thin out. The reason for this is cause the thicker oil will get colder while sitting.
I know this is a bit lengthy but it should help you understand what choice you should make for oil.
