my freind and i are building a 250r out of a few bikes we just got,,the first is a beat up 83 with an acually strong running motor but lacks rear brakes(all of the brake is gone including lever) and needs rear end bearings really bad,,the second trike is an 81 250r rolling chassis with a mint seat, redone frame new plastics and everything seems to be tight. now my problem is do i want to swap that 83 motor to the 81 or try to restore the 83 because of the obvious(pro link, disc rear that id have to find, better styling).

anyways enough rambling i need suggestions a.s.a.p and opinions so i can start the project.im open to anything you guys have to say. I will post the build on the forums to share with you guys as well as possibly list some parts for other trikes i own.

anyways thanks for your time

i would build the 81 so you have something to drive and build a good roller out of the 83 and swap the motor back in when it all good and tight.

You said you had a great 84 roller and then said you would swap the engine to an 81. ??? 81 is junk, an 84 would be great. Also the seat pictured looks like an 85.

The roller is an 81 the runner is an 83 and the parts in the pic came with the 81,you are right the 81 is junk but in really clean shape.Im not sure how long it will take to get the bearings and brakes for the 83 or where to even start looking for them. Dont know what to do now.:(

There is anything you need in the classified section here. Place an add and someone will answer. Part the 81 the same way and pay for your build. The 83 is a better trike.

That seat is deffinately not an 81. 99% sure that is an 85 seat & fender.

Strange about that seat i thaught the fender didnt look as stylish as the 83 and up trikes but again ive got alot to learn. Thanks ill try the classified ads, Im also trying to see if my honda dealer here can score the bearings.
Another question i have is what years were the brakes interchangeable? Do i have to go with the 83 or can i use them from other disc years? SUCKS the 81 is drum.
