Please let me know what you guys think. I love this forum and respect ya'lls opinion. This was my sons quad we bought for a $100 a month ago. It was the first of 4 other ATC's that will be projects and have a different thread for those. But I painted this afternoon and it turned out great. Check out this vid it show a carbon fiber effect. how many hours do you have into that. and just one can of the red?

Prep was getting it oil free and clean, but in reality it only took about 20 minutes to clean. And I used 1.5 cans of the the red. I have maybe an hour and half into everything but it did turn out pretty nice. Thanks for the comment mang.

I've watched the video three times and still dont get it. What did you do to get the two different colors in the carbon look. Wasit painted red and then the matting applied and then the clear was sprayed?

Sonictronics yes it was sprayed red first and then the mat applied and the silver sprayed then the whole thing was coated in clear. Thanks for all the replies.

I noticed I didn't say anything about the silver in the video, my bad. My wifes 185s is next and it will be an out of this world paint scheme. That project is coming up. It will have front and rear suspension and I will put video's and pic every step of the way. That will start this week. I myself like to see before pics and vids of everyones builds and I assume most everyone else does too. Especially if its something a little unique like adding a swing arm to a hardtail like the 185.

i would paint the 185 rear fenders with a gel coat so it dont crack when it flexes any other paint will start coming off after a ride or two

I will use a flex additive in the paint for the ATCs. I will also use a plastic bonding agent as well. These will be ridden alot so i'm not worried about the paint wearing. It will still look good from 10 feet. I fix them up and make them look nice once and then the pampering is over. I still clean them after every ride and do all the maintenance but the fun is in the doing of the project after that i'm ready to move onto another. I'm sure i'm not a lone ranger in that aspect. Especially here. LOL:rolleyes:
