Hello
I have a 85 Honda 250 SX and I would like to install a 200X front end for many reasons you all know about so my question is, can I use my triple trees and buy the forks on down to the tire? I would like to buy the whole assemble from eBay but they are hard to come by so I'll have to buy all the parts separately which would cost a mint in shipping.
Any suggestion would be appreciated!!!
Thanks, West

West,
You can slide in 83-87 200X forks in your triples. But you won't have a front brake and will have to engineer a way of spacing the front tire centered. Keep checking Classifieds, many 200X's are parted with "complete front end" usually needing fork seals, brake pads, a caliper rebuild and a new tire. Others are in better shape needing very little. Sounds like allot but if you want em, you want em.
If you get the whole deal it's basically a bolt on aside from chopping off the SX steering stop and adding one for a 200X.........

I bought an orig owner sx that needs a tank a few months ago.
I happened to wait long enough to find 2 parts bikes for 100$ each and saved
myself over 100$ just on a tank.

Thanks for the great info!! Is there another front end I could use that will give me disc brakes?

I know that patents pays off! It took me a year to find the 250sx I have now. I paid $1000.00 for almost new and the seller through in a OEM rear finder new in the box. I was surprised when the finder sold on eBay for $750.00

You can also fit a 350X front end on there - 3mm larger forks, the 85/86 250R is a bit tall but the 83/84R is another option. Neither of those will slide in your triples.........

Just keep looking for the front end, I picked up everything i needed for about $180 shipped. I didn't need a fender or rim and tire though.

I just received my complete 200X front end that I purchased from eBay for my 250SX. My question is, the forks have tire shredder valves on top of each fork with no pressure. What are they for? Air? Hydraulic oil?
Thanks, Chris

They are air assisted forks...make sure the front wheel is off the ground and inflate them with a hand pump to 1.4 - 7 psi (as preferred)...the manual notes never exceed 14.2 psi as damage may occur. Each fork tube holds 9.5 oz of 10W fork oil.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

What 200x manual has these specs?
