I need a tank for one of the sx's. Orig owner, looks like it was never cleaned because it never got dirty...no kidding.

Paintbumps the bottom of the gas tank scraped off to reveal 1/2" by 6" rust hole.

Anyway, guy at a tire shop has an sx for 100$, says he thinks it "needs a flywheel",
whatever that means.

But it has 3 unbent rims, a stock exhaust that I really want and good plastics so I really can't lose.

I wonder what "needs a flywheel" means?

I'm thinking he got the dreaded "flywheel needs to come off" for a new stator coil
and got spooked by the shop repair cost.

Maybe it.s just the famous sx battery box wire that breaks.

The only 250 flywheel issues I've heard of is broken crank from overrevving
water contaminating the coils/rust.

Or maybe someone was in there without adult supervision
and the nutts are round now. Crank key is spun, someone forgot to tighten it.

Guess we'll see tomorrow.

All I really need is the tank and the exhaust
and a friend really needs rear fenders to keep his boots from filling with mud.

I'll see what it takes to get it running before I get it to terminal parts status.

Just absolutely hate to let them go to parts.

Most popular failure on these is to eat starter gears and jam the flywheel.

I guess we'll see after a 2 hr drive in the freeZing rain.

whoopie!
