Ok I have purchased another 350x. This thing is sharp and has been very well taken care of. I took it out a couple weeks ago for the first time. I was riding it pretty hard then all of sudden it died in mid throttle. I couldn't get it to restart until it cooled down. I am not sure if it was getting spark as I didnt have a wrench in the field. I took it home and put a new spark plug in it, then also cleaned the carb. Rode it a little bit then let it idle for about 30 minutes. No issues. I didn't ride it near as hard tho. If this comes back what should I look at? Obiviously check for spark but besides that? Thanks for any and all help.

Sounds like you just fouled a plug maybe?

I had same thing happen to me yesterday with a 350X I JUST got a week ago. I am pissed! I traded an original 85R for it! Anyway, whenever I fouled a plug the bike stopped running. You're saying a loss of power can be a fouled plug? I checked air filter and the bike's running, but has lost her ass. Barely gets up hills anymore. I just hope it's not the top end going.

When I say loss of power I mean everything. As in won't start. I replaced the plug and am yet to go back out. Thinking it was probably a fouled plug. I might have some jetting issues also as I have a supertrapp exhaust with factory jets.

Absolutely. Usually not in mid-ride though... when I've seen it happen, it was when it's hot and you shut down and try to restart.

I'm hoping it is not a coil issue then. I guess we will find out soon...

Well looks like a cdi box is bad. Used an OHM tester to find it. Now I Have to find one :((

maybe one of your wires in the cdi harness wore through the insulation. happened to my buddy's

with his there was a realllllly tiny wear on one of the insulators and it would intermittently short out. i think he wound up relocating the box after finding the broken wire

I went through the manual and tested starting at the coil. the coil tested good, then I got to the cdi box. Took it out and did the test exactly as the manual stated. The IGN part of the CDI starts to read then drops flat. Got another CDI on the way.
