Baffles for mufflers.

Does anyone know of an effective way to make baffles for a gutted muffler (thanks dad:rolleyes:)? My klt's loud as hell and ive been pulling my trailer around late at night lately and i don't want to make the neighbors hate me anymore than they already do. Ive heard of making plates with holes in them that go inside the muffler. Does this do anything for it? I'm going to try it just for the heck of it since i got enough sheet aluminum down stairs to make a lot of them.

I'm in the same boat with a 250sx (4 stroke)

The amount of pressure it puts out will blow rocks, literally, so whatever you put in there should be secure somehow.

Also a little freaked about creating too much back pressure and ruining anything.

I'm looking to find a plain old stock muffler and be done with it all.

Plus the off road cops check them periodically at the dunes or wherever.

I don't ride any dunes or anything like that so i don't half to worry about off road cops. I just ride in my yard and to my friends house like a mile away by road. And the one house that close to his i believe is calling the cops on me when i go by at midnight sometime. Today i took a piece of i think 3/4 pipe put it on in place of muffler and it quieted it down a bit at idle. But as soon as i hit about half throttle it gets loud again.

:D:idea:you can use a stock quad muffler a lot of take-offs out there becouse they want aftermarket stuff. for the 250 i would get a 300-400ex muffler then mod the mounts and make a adapter to your stock header the off-road pigs will leave you alone after that . good luck:cool:

Don't tell anyone but I got so aggravated, I jammed a lawnmower muffler in mine since it was the same internal diameter as the head pipe.

Going to pick up 2 parts sx;s tomorrow so I should be doing it the right way soon.

My local shop has a pile of new muff that people want replaced with aftermkt fancy stuff.

What would the heat do if they pull you over on a road in PA?
