Well, does it run? If it does not run, $900 seems high.

Not great pics but obviously not the prettiest thing but... Then again,-probably not many 250Rs to choose from in canada -right?
Sure is dirty tho, gonna have to look carefully. Get on it & bounce it up & down and see how the suspension feels. Check the tank carefully inside/out. Missing the front fender- might have bent shocks up front. He says it runs awesome ,new tires tho & has spare parts? Tough to see the total condition from here.Think about it carefully & definately try & get it for less cuz it probably is a semi-project. You will be spending some cash on it to fix it up more than likely.

If your LT is beat and you can get $900 go for it. If the 250r is a runner, I would imagine in Canada that $900 is not too far off. I would show up with $900, offer $600 and go from there. Check the carrier bearings, brakes, frame for cracks, etc.

There is another 250r up in the barrie area, check that one out too. I mean it might be worth $900 but they go for so much more I am guessing some5hing is pooched... Drive out there and check it out. bouch, look for smoke, turn over, check the wiggle, breaks, bends forks...ect

Just a my opinion .... you might want to put the plastic on it and get rid of the jack stands in your pic.... people are going to look at the add and think it dosen't come with any and skip to the next one

Here's another option - seller open to reasonable offers (ie I bet he'd take $1500 if you showed up with cash).
This guy has owned it since '87, and sounds like he's taken care of it:

that 250r is beat to hell. 900$ is a rip off. considering you can buy a new quad for like 4 times that. And no. I paid 600$ for me 84 in 10X better shape. Dont buy that for 900$!

$900 isnt that bad it just alittle dirty, i talked to the guy today and he say it runs he rebuild it 2years ago and still was 150psi compression best part is that it was an ownership in the owners name and it comes with a parts bike, that is only missing the gastank and ehaust. So for $900 to me its a good deal a few hours with a good cleaner and the presser washer and it will look good agen

From what I have heard about 250R's in Canada I would be all over that. Sometimes there are a lot of people on here who will tell you, "That's too much, big pile of crap." because the found some screaming deal on some mint find. Even in up north Michigan a good running 250R would go for around the same price. If you go there and it runs good I would grab it. You can always make stuff look nice later.

You CAN find deals in Ontario, you just have to be a classified-sniper! i.e. act QUICK when a deal appears. Have cash ready, call the guy right away, and show up with the cash in hand ASAP.
Over the past 2 years, here are what I've picked up from the Ontario area and what I paid for each:
1983 200e (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/album.php?albumid=193&attachmentid=93195) - $450
1984 250R (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/album.php?albumid=193&attachmentid=91899) - $1050
1985 250SX (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/album.php?albumid=193&attachmentid=93194) - $600
1985 350X (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/album.php?albumid=193&attachmentid=93971) - $800
1986 250SX (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/album.php?albumid=193&attachmentid=92443) - $1000
1986 250R (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRPnnuBYvVw) - $900 (but this was bought from a buddy of mine as opposed to a random classified posting)
I have pictures of all these trikes in my photo gallery if you want to compare purchase price and condition of ATC - but bottom line is deals ARE here in Ontario/Canada - you just have to act fast!

You speak the truth.
I was lucky when I sniped one of mine (250sx) for a little less than $900 and she was perfect original plastic and stickers with front and back rack, good tires, brakes, everything. The only thing I had to change was a rear bearing because it made the smallest of squeeks as well as some of the reflectors lol.

Yeah, I have both - I was keeping them for spares but I might be willing to sell them to a fellow local triker if you really want them.

alright i will keep it in mind that you have them. What do you want for a gas tank? I can see from the pic's on kijij that the tank on the bike is dented up bad so i better one may be in order.

If I were you I wouldn't be too concerned (at least not quite yet ;) about getting a pristine trike - especially if this will be a rider. Dents in the tank can be fixed (awesome job in the above post!!) and if you ask me, as long as it doesn't leak it's good enough! Wait till you get the trike before you start purchasing stuff - chances are you WILL be spending money on NEEDED work and it adds up fast.
Unless you luck out, you'll probably be looking at buying front and rear axle bearings as well as swinger (where it meets the frame) bearings - those add up fast. And you'll likely need new brake pads, sprocket and chain. Hopefully the air filter is in decent shape and can be used, otherwise a UNI filter as well.
That's just the minimum to get you running - and once you ARE running you'll likely find other things to fix. Long story short, if the tank holds fuel save your $$$ for other potential issues ;)
congratz on the sale of your quad and have fun buying your next 3 wheeled toy!!!
