Just a few pics of my '86 KXT 500 project. It's a non runner right now. Motor is an '86 KX500....toast but used as a mock up for now.

Pipe is a prototype built by a buddy back in MI. I'm heading back there in June and i'll have him build another pipe more like the original Tecate bends.

Yes, I too like the low boy pipe. (Except the stinger area or lack thereof). I would buy one if I did finally ever build my 500. The day I bought my Tecate, I said I was gonna build one to the guy I bought it from.

What's up with the huge stator cover? 2 piece? What's goin on under there?

Anyway, you makin any extra motor mounts? A few people want them. I saw some aluminum ones once but didnt go for that soft stuff (i think they might have even broke).

Lots of nice stuff there.

Sharpen those foot pegs so it doesnt pull out from under you!

ND4speed, I will be building complete kits for people, they will be out of steel but customers will have choices between holes cut out inside of them, or I am going to try and make sick cut outs, but i cant wait to see Maico's build!

Thanks guys. I'm workin' on the stinger section now. Once done..it'll be hooked up to an FMF Power Core silencer in the stock Tecate location. The pipe is NOT perfect but close. It's not exactly how I wanted it done but then again...it's a prototype.

I haven't made the front or top mounts yet but will soon do so. They'll be made out of aluminum like the stockers. As long as everything is tight and the motor isn't allowed to move around...the aluminum mounts should be fine.

The stator cover IS a 2 piece design...it's an E-Line 200W stator so I can still run lights. It uses the stock KX500 ignition...stator and flywheel...and adds another magetic rotor and windings resulting in 2,100W leads.

The foot pegs are pretty much toast. I may use the mount and spring and just design my own set out of aluminum...with bear trap type teeth. LOL!

FMF POWER CORE? or Turbine Core 2 Universal?

I have both. I plan on fitting each 1 so if the need for a forest legal silencer comes about...all I have to do is swap 1 for the other.

Got woke up extremely early and get on here & see all this Tecate folk activity, like some private underground sub-culture, lol (I think that was actually a nervous chuckle). So this is wear it's at, huh? I must spend too much of my life sleeping. And once again, that pipe to me is a work of art, really nice to look at. I'm excited to see all the KXT 500's emerging.....and a little scared too, lol.
