last year when I was getting my trike out for the summer my friend was going to change the oil while I went and got gas, but when I got back it turned out he had turned the bolt in the wrong direction and stripped most of the threads and now it leaks oil. Any suggestions on how to fix this or atleast slow down the leaking process?

Tap new threads. Flush it at least once before running it to get shreds out.

oops. Another reason I hide my tools.

Depending on the thickness of your case castings, and how many, if any threads are left. you can look into oversized 'self stripping', I mean self tapping threads. Take the old one to an autoparts store. and maybe even get a longer one.

Or do it right and buy a tap and plug and read the directions.

I put one in with plumbers teflon tape wrapped a few times around the plug and it's still holding. but whoever rides it better be aware enough if it falls out.

I had a real bad one on a beater 'disposable trike and glued it in and changed the oil by pouring it out the fill tube.

Sorry for your loss but I KNOW how you feel.
More than 1/2 the people who get near my stuff are unqualified and dangerous.

i did that with my 250 bigred, i just took plugg down to napa auto parts he gave me a heli plug which will replace the old plug..EASY FIX..just put it in and take trailprotrailpro time re threading.keep baking out a few times to keep it clean..and when done put in and off to the trails ..the lug was like 3$ bucks.

Hahah poured it out the Fill tube ! That Sounds hilarious ! I know it would work, but just funny having to do it that way.
