I haven't even taken 5 minutes to look at the bike. I know I can find out if I take the cover off. I was just sitting at work thinking about it, seeing how it is next in line to get restomoded. Anyone know for sure, also if it "is" cdi do you think it will interchange with some of the newer chinese stuff. Like the inner rotor kits. I will find out for sure here in the next week but would like to get some opinions.

A '79 should be a 110... CDI.
Fairly certain '78 was the last year for the 90

It can't be a 79 unless it's a 110. If it's a 90 or a 79 it should have points.

Like I said I haven't had 5 minutes to look at this thing. I bought it off of CL last month and the guy selling it stated it was a 79'. It has fiberglass rear fenders I think a 110 would have had plastic. Still learning all the differences beetween the years but by the time I finish with all four ATC's in the next 1.5 months I should be able to tell you all the bolt thread pitches. LOL. projects are a 90, 110, 185s with the High performance front triple tree setup and an 85' 200x which will be my special big bore project. Some of my favorite work is done on the engines. Don't feel like the only options you have are the ones marketed to you. Measure your parts such as wrist pin size, deck height, valve clearance and then look everywhere. Use a sport bike piston if it will fit. Powroll makes some great parts, but $290 for a piston seem a little excessive. Especially when I order one elsewhere for $30 and then went out and placed better in the races than some of those guys. I can't wait to get these things going.

You can find the VIN on the frame neck and decode it here: http://atcvin.webs.com

All 90's had points. The 110 had points in 79 and 80

I just learned something new... I always thought 110=CDI
Thanks for the correction!

Me too, but I have owned two 79 110's now. Points were foreign to me before this
