i wanted to go all black with my 350x so i picked up a new black clarke tank for it.i used my old petcock since it worked fine on my original tank.after a couple rides i noticed that when i turned it down to the reserve position that gas would leak out of it.when i rode it it was about 25 degrees out.the next week it never got above freezing and got down near zero for 2 days.went out into the garage and noticed there was ice forming all around the petcock.so i figured i would just get a new one for the machine.well installed the new one and i have the same issue with it leaking when i turn it to the reserve position.i have to turn it back and forth a few times and kick it over between 4 and 20 times til it will fire and run.once its running there is no problem wondering if anyone here can help me out with this issue it would be a big help thanks.

You most likely need to adjust that nut that is on the peacock. My gas tank was leaking a little around that area as well. I adjusted the nut and it stopped.
I also put some plumbers tape on the threads.... i dont know if the gas will eat that away, but i figured it wouldnt hurt.

also i added an inline fuel filter when i got the new tank but i wouldn't think that should be any kind of an issue.

clean out that filter in there, and adjust the nut. I had similar problems with i installed mine. Installing a filter wouldnt hurt, either.

the ice thing is a little confusing as to the cause?

do you have water in the gas and its freezing in the petcock makeing a fuel leak and blockage? letting just enough by to run then the heat from the engine thaws it out? just throwing it out there as ice forming around the petcock is not normal and i have rode some really cold days.

it formed on the old one but not the new one but they both leak around the knob when you turn them to reserve.

well took it over to my neighbors house who is a mechanic and he said that the new petcock was not staying sealed when i turn it to reserve so its a defective part.when it turns it moves out a little and lets gas leak out.if you wiggle it in and out a little it also leaks.now i have to see if return it and get a new one.got it off ebay can only imagine what my luck will be returning it.
