This is off of the tecate I just picked up the other day. So what do you guys think happend here? There are no threads in the drain hole and this is the plug.... I've never seen one like this, is this a home job or what? It's like magnetic to catch the metal shavings but it just kind of pops in there and when you tighten up on it it expands a little bit to hold it in...? Kinds sketchy, I would HATE to have this bounce out on a good bump and drain all my oil out mid-ride...So what gives? You guys seen this before?

Looks like somebody screwed up the threads and used a generic plug to fix it. It also looks like you might have some water in your trans fluid.

I changed out that crappy old fluid, that stuff was AT LEAST 6 years old. Do you think I'd be taking a risk by using that plug offroad or what?

Tap that hog out to the next avail size.
Throw a pair of calipers on it and see what size it is. I may have a plug, ive got a big assortment of them. May even have a tap you can borrow.

Also looks like you have some sort of water issue like dcreel said, possibly bad water pump seal?

I would only run that plug, in a boat....

The whole damn thing needs a good overhaulin. Gonna bring the vin down to the DMV and tell em I picked up a heap of metal at a junk yard and got it running and now I want to register it lol...we'll see how that goes. I'll probably end up throwin all new gaskets and oils seals in this thing like I did with my other engine.

Dont use that plug!!! One of my buddies picked up a really clean 86r a few years ago that had one and after taking the bike out for a good flogging the bottom end let go because the plug got ripped out (no engine skid on at the time). It may be ok in an emergency but I dont trust them.
