I gotta fender brace with no braces ! nice huh? not really.
I need gas tank bushings too.
SBLT500R makes the fender brace out of aluminum and was tryin to sell it on ebay for $110. I want one but no one else bid on it either. He was sellin 84-85 one for $50. If the price was just a little better on the 86.
He said he was gonna get gas tank bushing made too, but I've never seen them.

Does $25 sound like too much for 3 new repro tank bushings? I found some. The set is 2 correct part # and one incorrect part.
Well one could just ask for a substitution to get all 3.

looks good so far, cant wait to see the completed project
you have to raise the forks up a little in the triples, there is a line around the fork that goes even w/ the top of the trips..
Looks awesome so far!!

Is that an xs650 in the back ground?
Nice work on the Tecate. When I got mine the sprocket was falling apart. But that's probably the worst I've ever seen!
I hope you are using locktite everywhere you can remember besides the axles.

I believe its a 700-750 cant remember off hand it belongs to a buddy of mine who is deployed and i am rebuilding the carbs for him he gets back and i plan on having it running this summer... My bike is under the cover behind his (mine) is a 87 CBR 1000F its running a single sided Vfr swinger, and a 05 1000rr tail section and a Buel Firebolt front fairing and headlight modded to the cbr fairing stay so i could retain the stock instrament cluster... thats all my junk in the backround 200x awaiting motor and fenders (this week) 82r summer projest she runs but no swinger, and my 86 trx250r awaiting fenders (this week0
As far as the sprocket goes it was trashed and you cant see in the pic but there are 4 more teeth that are cracked 2 real bad 2 not as much...
Locktite what is that...lol... im using blue on everything and replacing all hardware with Stainless and all nuts with nylocks

There has got to be a better place to mount your rear shock reservoir. It's not gonna last long where it's at right now.

Rollingmenace, will the reservoir reach your dogbone? Could you attach it to the dogbone?

I agree that the resi is not in the best of places.....for now thats the only place i could get it to mount so when the suspension compresses the line isnt tighter than a banjo string..( man those raptor resi lines are short).. . i know itll take abuse there but for now im setting this bike up for a ride we have planned in the dunes in moab in april... it wont be seeing alot or trails and shortly after the ride the shock is coming out and will be rebuilt(revalved and sprung) for my weight and riding style, at that time ill have a longer line made up for it and then mount the resi in a better spot..

I just didn't want to see you destroy your rezi on the bike's maiden voyage, but it sounds like you've thought through the ramifications of your modifications. :D

yeah man alot of thought went into this... i couldve mounted the resi on the side of swingarm but i would've risked possibly pulling the line to tight in the event that i air this thing out at the dunes...plus ill most likely be running a 20"tire so that will give me a little more clearance as well...
As for an update today... Progress made
>>final chain tension.
>>Adjusted rear brake stop
>>Topped of rear brake master cylinder
>>Installed front caliper line and master
>> Installed Radiators
>>Installed freshly enameled stock pipe.. New springs and honda dampener
>>Made modifications to airbox to fit keihin PJ36 carb
>>Mounted carb to airbox
>>Mounted front number plate
>>Test fit tank and shrouds
Pics will follow tomorrow
