so, I was just wondering what was it designed to do? was it supposed to be a trail trike or a type of hybrid designed for both work and play?

I'd say the latter, according to the brochures.

I own a 81, and I can tell you they are deffinatly a good work horse. One ride on one, and you will know. They are not too bad for trail riding, and do okay. Mine dosent have front suspension, but I would imagine it would make a little smoother ride.
If it came to pulling something, im willing to bet the kawasaki klt 200 or klt 250 would outpull any other 3 wheeler in stock form hands down. They have some serious down low torque for the size of the engine, and an engine designed to do just that.

thanks for the info, I have an 83 klt but I just was wondering what it was designed for, haven't done any pulling or trail riding with it so I had no idea.

Here's a KLT200 article (older model than yours though).
