So here it is my new 350x project! I took lots of pics this morning. I have a list of things that need to be done & that I want to do.

I rode down to the end of the street & back. One rear tire was flat, I didnt know that. But it hauls ass. Im about to go out in the garage right now & clean the carb. Hopefully I can go for a good ride tomorrow.

~ Add brake fluid to the resi's
~ Check all nuts & bolts ( already found 2 nuts on the top motor mounts were missing.

~ OMF engine skid plate
~ K&N filter with outerwears cover
~ Pro Design Kill Switch

I love that blue front brake line cover. Do you know what it is because I would like to get the same for mine.

Its just wire loom, you should be able to get it at your local auto parts store.

Just the clutch cable routing and the stator as far as I know.

The most obvious difference is how the clutch operates... pulls to the front on an '85 and to the left on an '86 (did I get that right?)
There are supposedly slight differences inside the motor, and if I'm right, the cases are a little different...

Well I don't know how picky you are about using "the right tool" but I've always just used a small hammer and punch to loosen and tighten the chain. As long as you don't whack the adjuster to hard, you won't leave marks in it.

Also the front forks seem really soft! I read the manual & it said the to not air them up over 10 psi, but it also said 0 psi is normal??? How do I make them stiffer?

Tapper's skidplate is awesome, Oldtime3wheeler got a couple for us and its just beefy. I cant imagine what you'd have to hit to do damage, but when I hit it Ill let you know!

Always been a fan of wire loom on the brake line. I used to have blue on mine to, but changed it to black. I have some on both my 350's since they have braided lines.

Here is the exhast I put on the one I just finished a few days ago.

The sound is very loud, I like the RMC better, but the price of $219 all chrom was to good to pass up.

I rode mine a few days ago without the heat shield and almost burned the crap out of my leg.

Change your fork fluid!! Clean them out good! Put whatever weight you decide back in after a little research. prolly 20 or 30 by the sounds of your preference. I'm a big guy,and I bleed mine out EVERY ride! R's,X's of all sizes. You can get really fancy with a fork kit from back in the day,I think their still available, Would have to look. If your chain doesn't want to tighten easily w a nice punch. DO NOT force it!! You will break your carrier,they seize up on the brake side where the brakemount rides. Being it has been all apart,,,,it SHOULD be all free?? If not get her apart,clean,and grease,and you'll be adjusting your chain w your fingers! Nice find. Although they're never done exactly to the other persons taste,,,someones put a LOT of labor in it for you, The way to buy em,especially to ride!

having a 86 motor is good one major improvment is the oil pump works when the motor is leaning to the side the 85 350 couldnt get any oil to the head when your riding on 2 wheels im trying to find out what 86 parts i need to fix that

I love this thing! It feels alot different than my Big Red that im use to riding, I kept forgetting it actually had breaks! Oh yeah I also checked all the bolts and prob. about 95% of all the bolts were loose. 2 of the engine mount bolts werent even there, luckly I had some laying around. Previous owner had everything powdercoated & he must have just threw it back together.

In the one picture you took of your air filter, it doesn't look like it's oiled?? Then again, maybe it's me. Great looking 350x you got there. If your looking for another exhaust alternative, here's what I did: I used my cobra header and actually hacked off my cobra silencer. I then took a White Bros E-series silencer and slipped it over the Cobra mid pipe. It looks and sounds better then any 350 I have ever heard.

Honestly, I think it did go on a 400ex. But It was also on a XR400 and and an old XL250. Like I said, I just used my Cobra header and hacked off the silencer. Then I slid the WB silencer into the hacked off midpipe. Just make sure you do some measurements before you start hacking. But other then that it was a direct swap along with some strong clamps. In your previous post, you mentioned that the engine was stock. If thats the case, run that 100 octane fuel through and fill it up with plain jane 87. As long as your not running any high compression pistons, 87 is all you need. 100 octane may actually cause you lose power.

I am wanting to buy a full exhaust system but all I can find are the DG units (chrome & non chrome) does anyone have anyfeed back on these units?

Good thing about the DG chrome is that theres an fmf spark arrestor that will fit it. My cousin has one on his 200x but not sure if it would be the sAme for the 350x.

Changed out all the phillips head screws on the handlebar controls to stainless hex head bolts.

Had an old set of Douglas .190 wheels that came on my Big Red, they aren't in the best shape but I polished em up pretty good. Getting new Holeshot GNCC 21x11x9 tires mounted up tomorrow!

Got the tires mounted & put on. Went for a short ride in the woods by my house, I can really tell that the clutch is slipping now with the extra grip of these tires! Also does anyone know anything about the DG Xccellerator exhaust? Im pretty sure it is adjustable like a Supertrapp, Im going to play with it later today.

Its made by DG, and I found it on ebay. Im pretty sure they are no longer made. It didnt come with any instructions or clamps.

I see alot of color on that new chrome header, make sure your not running lean. With all the upgrades, you surely will need to up your main jet size. Don't forget the heat shield, trust me.

It turned a goldish color pretty quick, as of right now I only have the DG exhaust & a Uni filter. I will play with jetting when I get the 400ex carb. I dont need a heat sheild I always ride in jeans.

very pissed today...I bought a kickstarter on ebay, the seller said it was like new & had been sitting on a shelf for years! The kicker is just plain garbage, totally wore the F out! paid $50 damn dollars for it too! So I odered another one off of EBAY ( I know) for another $50. So maybe $100 later I will have a good kicker!

I had this exhaust on my 250x quad. They are adjustable, but for the most part we ran it with no disc or cover....alot more power...LOUD!!

I had the DG black, It made real good power but, it was loud as hell. too loud...do yourself a favor and find a nice SUPERTRAPP for it Or the one you have on there now :lol:

What's up with the disks on the DG? My buddies just has a nozzle straight out the back, and it's about the loudest pipe I've ever heard on a trike.. Did they come with both?

put new clutch in today, rode it for 2 minutes & noticed it was leaking oil outta the oil cooler line, so I ordered some new o rings & hopefully that will fix the problem!

Ive been working in Mississippi for the last 7 days, got home today to find all kinds of packages waiting on me! Finailly got the Cory Sprock 400cc big bore kit ( cylinder head is going to powdercoat tomorrow) also got 2 packags from bike bandit, new gas cap & oil line o rings & bolts. Oh yeah & a LoneStar parking brake block off plate. Im sending my seat out to the Mosh's tomorrow also.

the Cobra that was on it was junk, the insides were all loose & rattled like crazy.

I put a new o ring on the oil cooler lines, no more leak!

The seat won't be done for a while, like 4 weeks maybe longer! The build has began to slow down due to me working outta state & pretty much all thats left is the high dollar items.

Just dropped off the engine to have the Corey Sprock 403cc big bore installed, along with new valve guide seals!

Well the build up has slown down for now, my seat is currently in the hands of Mrs. Mosh at Cosmic Quads being redone, and the engine is being town down by a Honda mechanic friend of mine.

well I didnt get it back yet, somehow the CDI went bad & we were unable to start it, so I ordered a new CDI Box from Honda!

the white you are seeing is just reflection from the flash!

Got a good used CDI Box from bkm here on the forum. Pluged it in & fired up on the second kick. So I decided to go break in the new 400cc Corey Sprock engine, man what a difference, so much torque! But the new Barnett clutch started slipping, bad. So I guess I put it together wrong, I dont know! Will be looking into that in the next couple days.

Got my seat back from Mrs. Mosh today, i think it turned out really great, let me know what you think. Here are some before & after pics.
I know theres a some waiting time for seats from Mosh, just curious, what was your total cost with the 400X graphics? Looks great!

Found the exhuast on ebay, its made for the 350X so it probably wont fit anything else.

I asked the same thing! ??? Looks great, love he kept the color right with the Honda "X" after the 400. Has a nice factory look that ought to get some newcomers heads taking a second look seeing it fly by them quads!

Thanks guys, the seat was $200, that included new foam, cover & the custom 400X logo's. I did have to wait awhile to get the seat back but it was worth the wait for sure!

ive had better luck with new honda clutches than any of the aftermarket stuff. i just use aftermarket springs

Put on a freshly rebuilt rear shock on yesterday I got from sblt500r here on the forum, installed a new OEM Honda clutch today.

Got to do some riding today, ran about half tank through the 400X. This thing is a beast, 4th gear power wheelies on hard dirt road! I dont think a stock 350X will do that! I must say that it is very hard to start do to the high compression. I think I need to play with the jetting a little more, at full throttle it breaks up pretty bad! Sorry no pics or videos yet!

Got the 400EX carb jetted & installed today! I used a Dyna Jet kit & it said to use a 170 main jet for an aftermarket exhaust & no airbox lid. Well thats what I did & it ran like a rapped ape! I had to heat up the intake tube with a hair dryer to get it to fit around the larger 400ex carb, but its on & so far so good.
