Does anyone have a Trail Tech Computer on their machine? If so, how do you like it?

I recently came across them in the Cycle Gear monthly catalog. Trail Tech makes one model that will monitor the tach and also provides a non-resettable engine run time for a reasonable price (~$35). Seems very easy to install. All you need to do is wrap a wire around the spark plug wire. There are more advance models that have the capability of monitoring the engine temp, tach, and speed; it also has programmable warning lights for high engine temp and high RPMs.

I had the Vapor on my banshee, Racing, i coudnt hear my engine over the 450's so i figured it would be nice to look down and see the rpm's. But after several races i realized i NEVER once looked at it during a race, so i sold it.

I have the Vapor on my KX250F, and I love it. It was an easy install and I can easily check my engine temp, outside temp, current RPMs, Current speed. It also displays the time, it has a tripometer, odometer, total hours with engine on, max speed and max RPM. I payed about $100 for the one that fits my bike. I'd love to set one up on one of my trikes haha. I got the all in one Vapor but they have a whole bunch of different ones with everything from just counting the engine hours to the racing ones that easily lets you track your lap times with a cool little button that you can put next to your killswitch. Basically they're awesome :]

i agree with above. for my application, (Short track/flattrack/ TT) the only part that was useful was the hour meter that you can set, to teel you when to change the oil and stuff like that.
It has ALOT of features, and was very nice just not pratical for what i needed.

I called the vapor business line He gave me the part number the one for a trx 250r. I would think the onso the wire dont e for the 250r is all the same except for instead of a coolant sensor you would need the eyelet to put under your spark plug. I havent installed mine yet. He did say you can cut and lengthen the wires if needed. I want my MPH sensor on the back so the wire dont run down the fork. Ihope it light up enough to see it I cant tell with the little I played with it. I got a black one from apex racing on ebay they were the cheapest and listed a black one for me when I asked about it.

Well, for the temp you have to cut into a radiator tube. For the tach you have to wrap a wire around your plug wire. For the speedometer you replace a bolt in the front wheel with a magnetic one and you use a formula in the computer to calculate speed, and so forth. I got hung up on one part while installing mine and I called them up and they helped me right through it. You just have to figure out what models will fit your trike because they're generally sold for bikes and quads.
