185s Shifting Woes!

Hi guys

I just aquired an 83 185s I having some issues with the tranny

The shifter has a good bit of play in it and its hard as heck to shift through the gears

It does shift through all the gears but it takes a fair bit of wiggling if u know what I mean

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Ive never tacked a tranny on an atc....Is there anything that comes to mind that I could try?

I just dont know where to start!

i get the feelign you have internal clutch issues.

I would check the splines on the lever/shaft first and that it's tight.

Also are u sitting still while shifting, Sometime you have to rock it back and fourth while shifting, Atleast i do When i downshift. if im sittin gstill
