250r Porting and Polishing questions!!!!

I might get an 86 250r that has been ported and polished. Does that affect the reliability in any way? Also, will it eat through top ends faster than a normal r?

depends on the port and polish, there are mild, full, full Race ports also there are do it yourselfer port jobs. Mild ports done by a pro will last the most and be the most reliable. when it comes down to it, it depends of who built the motor and how you ride it. I have seen a 250r have a full race port, and lots of goodies last for 2 long years of racing on one piston. but then again, the motor was built by a guy who has been building Race motors for more than 22 years.
