me and my freind are going to rebuild his 83 R soon cause the pistion whent and i was wondering if we were missing anything on our list of stuff that should be replaced not mods just things that wear out this is whats on the list to get so far:
wisco top end kit
34mm kehin air striker carb
axle berrings
swing arm berrings deppending how bad
clutch kit
rear disk and other brake parts if needed
black maier plastics
rino liner for frame
and repaint a bunch of parts i think he going to do the rims and small parts red
there has to be other stuff that should be replaced when we rebuild this thing we dont what to do all this work and have some stupid parts break the first time out

I would get caliper seals for both brake calipers, get the swingarm bearings to be on the safe side and get some front wheel bearings too. Also the steering stem bearing should be greased or just replaced. I would also get fork seals and boots (if needed). I would inspect the clutch and throttle cables and replace if needed. Seals and bearings are real cheap so basically I would replace all of them. I would get some shrink wrap for the wiring harness, and dielectric grease for all the connections.

Check out the crank bearings, wouldn't want to just rebuild the upper end if it needs more.

Lisle makes a great seal puller, it was like $8 and made the replacing the carrier bearings a breeze.

Whoa good job on the tank so far. Got that dent out huh?

bcredneck
02-16-2011, 01:34 PM
i pulled the dent out a little but it was full of creases so i used a little filler and that looks like crap compared to what it will look like when its done i wont stop till i cant find any visible imperfections i may let my stuff look bad but when im working on other peoples stuff it has to be perfect

First things first.. You guys need some helmets.. There are rules on 3ww that state that you can't show a video with a rider that has no helmet. Riding on the street without a helmet is a bad idea. As far as your buddy's crash goes.. "Birds of a feather, crash together"

bcredneck
04-02-2011, 05:01 PM
oh crap theres a rule ill be making shure we will have them for the rest of my vids from now on

bcredneck

Keep smoking those cigarettes, not wearing helmets, and not carefully examining carbs and throttles, and you won't be able to entertain us anymore!!

bcredneck
04-02-2011, 08:41 PM
we are not going to ride it till we get more parts we only used the carb to break it in we still need a 34mm carb all black majier plastics a pipe thats for more top end a aussieduner headlight cover if he still makes them twist thottle brake pads seat cover and some maxxis razors on 9'' rims

DG type II silencer for '83-'84 250R is all I was able to come up with. Available at many different online vendors. I just ordered one for my 250R from these guys because they were the cheapest, but Bikebandit has them too.http://www.shecklerracing.com/inventory_moreinfo.html?inventoryid=37510&listid=514&fid=1&sid=25&tid=514

*edit*...oops just re-read the post...seems you're looking for the headpipe? DG makes that too...http://www.jcmotors.com/p-20448-dg-national-2-stroke-exhaust-pipes-for-honda-atc250r-83-84.aspx

We never could find brakes for it trust me we tried and lack of money wasnt a problem. But it hasnt had any since the 90s before we ever rode it and we got used to it. It mostly gets used at a big sand pit or on ice i get to ride it every time i go back home and my next trips tomorrow.

My old 350x is also there and has no brakes but that thing dont need them if shifting down dont stop you the killswitch and 1st or 2nd will lock up the rear tires. Its to bad you cant do that with a 2 stroke

Totally not the answer i was expecting

i was expecting something like, ' its got brakes now, but not in the pic," or maybe even, "couldnt find the rears, but got fronts now."

Nope.

Probably the scariest answer you could have given. Thank you?

Try finding any brakes for it 2nd gen 250r on ebay that will ship to canada i searched for 2 years and for the rear it needs everything even the petal was gone. Its not something we wanted to ignore and if we do find them they will be bought

one thing the owner will not do is use a different part modded to fit they must be the stock brakes.

At least i didnt lie
