84 tecate bought

Bought this off CL for 550. Runs good, needs lots of tlc though. This is my first tecate, heard lots about them but never rode or had one. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Awesome.. Join the Tecate group in the group section. It is full of info on Tecate's. What questions do you have? Check the shift lever to make sure it's tight. Check for cracks in the framerails under the seat on either side. The stators tend to quit, the magnets on the flywheels tend to delaminate and take out the stators.

Great buy!....looks better than mine did when I started.. You must join the tecate group here... Lots of new stuff going on to get parts reproduced or keep em runnin.

It dont look that bad at all......I'd ride it!

Water pump seal is not the greatest. Poor rear shock.
Frame cracks, weak foot pegs, loose hardware everywhere.....

Go over it with a set of sockets and make sure everything is tight.
