Rebuilt my forks with new oem parts, dampers, seals, and boots, sandblasted and repainted crusty fork legs and headlamp cage, oem grommet on the headlamp bucket, battery hold down, airbox guts, front brake, mudlite tires, oem choke cable, and a promark 2500# winch with synthetic rope on a custom built front rack. Next I'm gonna build a gun rack for my ar10 to hang out up front for easy access. I'm gonna pull the motor sometime to do my valve cover gasket, and while I'm at it I'll put a fresh clutch in it and sand blast and powder everything, but for now we're ready to go find something to kill and hang it out of a tree! It's funny how a FREE Big Red cost so much:wondering!http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr287/jamminjimmi/big%20red/DSC00565.jpg

Very nice!! Did you make that front rack for the winch??? Any closeups??? I see some extra braces attached to the forks correct? Been wanting to mount one on my 200es as well.

Looks great!! I have an 85 200m that my old man bought new, I love the winch on the front. One quick thing though, those motors don't have valve cover gaskets...it's a machined fit between the head and the valve cover. Whatever you do, do not use a scraper on either surface, it will never seal again. Try a little lacquer thinner to get the old sealer off, and then use a very small amount of loctite (red) between the surfaces...works like a charm. Oh, and you can pull the valve cover without pulling the whole motor.

Yeah me and a buddy made the winch mount, we cut the plate it came with and used some 1" and 1/2" square tube for it, with some 1/4" plate for the brackets. I didn't have the fork brackets painted yet in the pic but you can check out the pics I have in my photobucket.http://s492.photobucket.com/albums/rr287/jamminjimmi/big%20red/

@oscarmeyer, I just like the way the tire looks and I could swap it for one of the others if I needed to, @flossyb20 I was kinda wondering about the whole pulling the motor deal, cause I've read other members saying that and that's how it seems to be in the shop manual. I wasn't sure if there would be enough clearance with the cover and the top tube, but thanks for the 411. Kinda like I read that the front forks have to come off to change the front tire......I guess if your front axle has made a permanent home in the backing plate like mine had you would but it doesn't need to come off for tire replacement. but I wound up replacing the whole brake, and axle, as well as all the suspension stuff. Now seeing the fresh painted stuff makes me want to redo the whole thing since I've replaced all the missing factory stuff now.
