Hey guys i am looking at picking up the first gen 250r. It doesn't look to be in that bad of shape, the only thing that worries me is what is under that garbage bag seat cover. I used to have one of these bikes a few years ago and the seat pan would just crumble in my hands b/c of so much rust. My question is from the 2 pics i have attached from the seller can you identify whether it is an 81 or 82? I know that if he had a pic of the back of the bike i could tell right away by either 81 (drum brake) or an 82 (disk).

Let me know what you think of the bike, he is delivering it to my house for 300 bucks after he digs it outta his shed.

82 model year had rear disk brake and the airbox snorkeled throught the frame tube. 81's had rear drum brake, and a different air intake location

^^^^^ What he said ^^^ main difference is 81 drum brake 82 Disk on the rear.... another slight difference is 81 front disk is solid and the 82 is slotted or drilled ... otherwise there pretty much identicle.... as for the seat pan there area few of us exploring some options i think dc plastics is trying to get together on moulding a plastic one by end of summer

You can get lucky with the seat pans. I got one in alright shape(plenty of life left in it) for $35 +35 shipping.

That was exactly what i was looking for. Thanks MonroeMike

When he drops the bike off i have a set of 200x hubs all cleaned up and a set of 4snows ready to throw on the back. I need to find a replacement for that silencer tho. I would love to find a bassani
