Okay some of you might remember the thread about the 1986 350X I bought that actually turned out to be a 1985 when I went to register it. Good news is so far it looks like the seller is going to make things right and I am waiting on the paperwork. I also bought a lot of parts with it. This Carrier Bearing I was told he bought for either a 250R or 200X and it did not fit and he later found out it was a 1986 350X Carrier Bearing. How can I confirm this? There are no markings on it anywhere, it is quite heavy for aluminum billet and appears to be well made. He told me he paid around 200.00 for it. It measures 7 1/2" high and the outer diameter is 2 3/4" on the small side and just a little over 3 7/8" at the other end (OD). Will this fit either one, 1985 or 1986 or are they different? Anything I can look for to determine if it is actually for a 350X? I can see where he tried to install it as it has some scratches but can tell it was never used. I am waiting on a call about another 1986 350X and if I buy that one I plan on selling my 85 and keeping only the parts that will fit a 1986. If this is for a 86 I want to keep it for a project. Appreciate any help!!!

Is that a RAD bearing carrier? If so go to there site with the measurements and look it up for your year, make.

I have no idea of the maker but I will try and find their site and see if it matches. Thanks

Looked at Rads site, couldn't find the info. I don't believe it is a Rad looking at their version though, milled different.

I'm not planning on it! Trying to assemble a few 1986's for my small collection. I'll be thinning out everything else come spring, just want some 86's that will interchange. I bought another one after yours and was told it was an 86, had 86 plastics and Honda 1986 sticker. Went to register it and found it was an 85! Waiting on the seller now to make things right. I bought another 86 for parts (seized motor), so I would have spare parts for the two riders. I paid quite a bit for the 85 because it had electric start and was in pretty good condition but wouldn't have bought it had I known it was a 85 as I'm told there are some differences where some things won't interchange. So my plan was to have a few good 86's with extra parts and a project 86 for something different when time allows. I bought a lot of extra parts so far and I'm just hoping the 85 deal turns out well. I was working on the paperwork to get them both registered, yours and the one that was supposed to be another 86. I'll get the DMV forms out to you this week so I can get that one on the road. Been quite busy with medical appointments etc. of course we could trade for that one in your house! LOL!!!

Looks like a "BOSS" carrier, they were about 100$

None at all anywhere, wish there was, it would be a big help if I can figure out the maker.

Thats why I said "BOSS" - no markings at all on them. Thats what TANKS350X bought and called a lonestar, it is not a lonestar.

the lonestar twin row bearings will work for that carrier,i have used that same carrier and was unable to identify it.after looking into it i would have to agree and say it is a boss carrier as well..

I don't care to guess the brand or maker of the carrier, but I can tell you to beware of cheap carriers. More specifically to check that the spacer between the inner bearing races is long enough to contact the races when the bearings are fully seated in the carrier. If it is not, you will see greatly reduced bearing life. The spacer is supposed to bear the tension when you tighten your axle nut, not the bearings themselves. The bearings are doomed if the spacer is not the correct size. I have seen it before.

Guess I was hoping by the dimensions I posted that someone would know if it is for a 1986 350X. I have never changed one before and was thinking this would be upgrade if it fits. If I knew the maker I could contact them to see if the dimensions match. I'll see what I can find about Boss, thanks!
