Oil = Smoke

32:1 for most two stroke trikes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what is said mixture going into?

if you have too much oil you foul a plug not enough you blow a motor take your pic

in 2-smokers, i like to run 24-26:1 ratio. honda stock bakc then recommended 20-22:1 interesting.

Everyone on here has talked about 32:1 as the magic ratio with enough oil to lube but not too much smoke.

I run all of my 2 stroke stuff at 50 to 1, chain saw, trimmer, 92 Quadracer, and a 1969 Herters snowmobile that calls for 16 to 1, I have never had any problems. The oils that we have today are way better than they were 25 years ago. Go buy a new Husqvarna or Stihl chainsaw and they tell you to run them at 50 to 1, these little engines take a pounding, running in the heat in summer at 13,000 rpm. So your trike will be fine.

Modern chainsaws have a different type of crank bearing than trikes, that's why they can run 50:1. If anyone says not to run 50:1 I wouldn't want to try it on my trike. Some people have had bad experience running 50:1 some haven't, there's a thread on it. No one had any complaints about 32:1, so when I get my Tri-Z its going to run 32:1. I don't want to cheap out on a couple drops of oil and have to rebuild the motor. They are 2 strokes, they are going to smoke.

Using synthetic 2 stroke oil can reduce the amount of smoke.

http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?53212-All-About-2-stroke-Oil-Ratios.-Interesting-find theres plenty of threads on this before heres a good one. Your carb plays a major role on a 2stroke. A 2stroke engine tuned correctly will smoke very little.

My 250R says to run 20:1. The service manager at the my dealership told me to run 40:1 using synthetic. Haven't tried it yet, but that is what I am planning to do when the weather breaks enough to ride.

32:1. I used to run 20-25:1 and had no problems either except it was running lean. Remember adding more oil to your fuel will lean out your fuel/air mixture.

Proper jetting will reduce smoke.. as for the oil ratio.. It depends on the oil type, and the rpms the engine will see.. For example a high singing 125 on a big track will need more oil than a 250 or 500 will in tight woods... I saw a dyno test where max power was made at 24:1.. The gains were said to be from the increased ring seal provided by the oil... I use 32:1 for most machines.. Never had a problem with Klotz or Maxima products, but i'm sure many others work well too

I use klotz full synthetic in my 84r , 3 oz. per gallon. Perfect mixture ! I have ran this mixture in other 2 strokes and never had a single issue.
