I am assuming it is supposed to have like some kind of "W" looking retainer clip from some of the posts I have read that holds the throttle needle down. I unscrewed my throttle cable from the top of the carb and slid it out and the needle was loose and just came out through the spring? Thats probably not correct is it? Would that maybe be a reason I cant get it to idle correctly?

Yes,- you definetaley need that clip...I wouldnt even start it anymore much less try to ride it even a foot-till you get that retainer clip. And yes... it sort of looks like a "W".

I lost my "W" clip when cleaning my carb. I took a small flat washer that dropped (not forced) into the tube, cut open a slot through one side (for cable) and it worked fine until I found the clip.

I forgot to say I first dropped in a small flat washer, #6 I think, with a small enough hole as not to let the needle circlip pass through. Then I added the larger washer which was slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the tube.

Can't beat that offer. Bike Bandit wanted $10.48 with shipping to Ohio and that was for one...
