I have this recent find a stock 250sx but not happy with the tire selection available.
I would like to change my rear wheels and front wheels from the stock 22x11x8 tires to at least 25x12x9. Will these 9 inch wheels bolt on my stock 8inch mounting hubs or do I just change hubs to match the desired 9"wheels??? exactly what do I need to look for???
Looks like I will have enough rear fender clearance how about up front will the 25x12x9 tire clear ok???
I need to change tires soon so this is an important initial step.
Thanks in advance

ok as far as the tires and wheels go on the sx you cant go any bigger then 22x11x8 without rubbing issues on the nbottim of the fender muffler and tool box, and front end i have used the 9 inch rims off of a 250 big red or there alot of companies who ffer aftermarkwt rims just make sure its a 4 x 110 bolt patern with a deep bell on the back end to clear the brake components and as far as a 25 inch front tire it is possible but not reccomentedin my oppinion. you cant swap the hubs out for anythgin else as the hub seals the axle seal on these machines. if your lookign for a good mud tire i had run maxxis surtracks on mine for years, also have a set of dirt devils on my 87 witch are alright rtires also but by far the best mud snow tire was the gbc gator tire and the mudlites work well also. for any mor einfo let me know i will try to help you out

A Goodyear ATT912 25x11x9 on a 7.75x9 rim will fit the front of the SX without rubbing. I narrowed the rear rim from an '86 TRX250.
I know a good way to put 25's on the back of an SX... check the link in my signature to see how I did it on my SX.

not sure about an sx. but i put 12" rims on my 185s. the rear was easy just a new set of hubs. the front took a little jerry rigging. i cut the center out of a 12" four wheeler rim and made a new center out of quarter inch steel. i run 27" vampires on my trike. good for mud but it doesn't snow much here so i can't reply on snow. if you run into clearance issues you can go with wheel spacers. good luck on you project.

Thanks Guys that is what I like when people share their actual experiences, Then we all grow towards a common goal end result.
I cannot find any actual mention but does the Honda 250sx have a different end ration(geared more for high speed) as compared to the honda 250es( possibly geared more for low speed and low end torgue) that would allow for less low end power and torque???
I know the SX and the ES both have a granny low gear but this potential end drive result could cause a deal breaker????????
Experience welcome
Thanks again for sharing your experiences

SX has a little more top speed on 22'' compared to the BR on 25'' but its really a small difference. Of course, if you get bigger tires on your SX you will have even more top speed. I'm not sure if the difference in gearing is either in the differential or with engine gears or maybe both...

ailll1 Thanks for the reply. Thankgoodness I still have a granny low gear and full compression. Lower final ratio with help with low end power when needed. What is your experience in running larger diameter tires???
Thanks

im pretty sure the 250es has lower geared rear end, id would not run 25 in tires on my stock sx myself , ive got 22x11x8 maxis sure grips and when in deep mud or snow its all its got to spin um in 2nd-3rd gear if you wanted to creep in 1st all the time maybe, or on harderer packed stuff, but when it gets sticky 25's dont do much good when there not spinning and the clutch is toast... just my thoughts as a sx owner
