Are all 200s motors virtually the same? We have a 86 with some busted shift forks and i found a complete running 84 motor. will it all interchange properly?

I think it is pretty much the same. We just put an 85 motor in my dads 84 200s last night and the only difference we could see was the shift pattern. There wasn't much change over the 200s run.

The engine will definitely bolt in place and work. Check bikebandit and cross reference the part numbers on the shift forks to see it they are the same.

no theya re not the same. 85 and eariler 200cc engines were 1 way, and the 86+ where different. it may not bolt up w/o modifications. but it's ok yo see how clsoe it aligns up. good luck.

Bike Bandit shows the crankcase and cylinder head to be the same numbers for 1984 and 1986. I believe all of the engine mounts are either in the crankcase or the cylinder head. If they are the same it should bolt right up.

they 86 what? maybe thet takked an 85 as an 86 and so BB is doing that. i know they did not make a normal 200s in 86 so it may have been a carry over for the 85 model and if that's the case then yea it will fit. look at the 86200x if your engine does not look like that then the earielr engines will fit. if it looks like the 86+ 200x, then it will not fit.

Yeah, the 200x was a major change in 1986, but the 200s hardly changed over its 3 year run.
