I know nothing about Yamahas but I was offered one today. It has been in a garage for the past couple of years, but the guy said it ran when he put it away. I said yellow and he said no it was black. He said that was a special order then. Don't know the year. I plan to go look at it when it warms up some. Were they anything special. It is shaft drive.

I think Raffa has one. Might be a 225 dr or something like that. When I was in my teens and riding there was a guy(older bro of a girl I went to school with) who had one. Shaft drive, electric start with pullstart back up, full suspension, reverse. I always like them.

I do believe the Black ones were a special edition. They had gold striping, shaft, reverse. I don't see many 225's with Reverse but they made them in Yellow also, Tri-Moto 225DRN's.

Yellow also, .

Yamaha referred to it as Competition Yellow.

Most of the reverse models were in Competition Yellow.

I think they are awesome. If you mean you were offered it as in free or cheap and its not something you want let me know. I have been wanting to get a 225 for my fiance (e-start) and I'm not too far away. I think they are pretty cool trikes, only one year though with reverse, '86. No 250ES for work but a decent play trike. I have been looking to get one because it would be perfect for the fiance, suspension and e-start. The YT175 is too wiley and the 250ES is too heavy for her.

I will keep you in mind when I go look at it. I will get some pictures and more details.

Sounds good. I have been trying my damnedest to get her to ride but the 250ES is too big (she says). You guys got much snow your way? Just made it through 1.5 feet of snow in the field on the 250ES. Let me know what turns out with it?

They did indeed make a black Yamaha in the 225 series. 2 of them that I am aware. One had some red in it electric with reverse I believe. That was a 225dr, and was the last year for them. The other was basically a 225dx special edition black and gold.
I had a sky blue model, and it was a tank. Awesome little machine. Sporty and utility mixed.
If it has been sitting with old gas, you can pretty much bet the carb will be bad. The needle and seats become heavily damaged, and the carb will need replaced.

Here are some pics of some of the 225's

Thanks Mosh and others for the info.

The owner said something about gold something. I didn't have my hearing aids in so I missed alot. I have to get back with him and set up a time to see it. He said he would give me a good deal and he mentioned it a couple of times so I will get some pictures.
