trying to build a 82 drag i was trying to put a axel on my extended swinger i had on a frame i had laying around it a 250r 81 or 82 frame but when i put the axel on i slid the rotor flange on and it stops about 1" from swinger when i took it off from the old swinger i seen that some one had used bearing as spacers to fill the space im thinking its a 81 axel can anybody tell me will a 81 axel fit a 82 or no

IIRc there has something to do with the 81 being drum and the 82 being disk brake on the axles that make em different... i know on a 82 you can run a 83-85 200x axle on the 82 carrier .... i happen to have a spare 82 axle in storage as i switched my 82 over to a trx 450r swinger and axle

was the 450r swinger a easy bolt on or did you have to do some mod

The 450 swinger is kinda in between there were a few mods that needed to be done all to the swinger but nothing to crazy... all can be done with little fab skills.. i used a hacksaw a straight edge and a file to narrow the pivot area a little and then had to make a bracket for the brake caliper stay and the chain allignment can be taken care of with a simple spacer but in a nutshell thats about it

build a bracket that bolts on to the old chain rear slider assy to hold the brake bracket

and thats it in a nutshell

i used new 450r berring set with the 82 r sleves.. a small o ring on the outside with a 1/16 ss fender washer to get spacing since it wont be using the dustcaps
