i am new to this forum and atcs, i don't know why my 185s is idling high, it acts as if the throttle is stuck, thus the throttle being loos to a certain point

Probably a stupid question, but did you turn the idle screw down?

Did you not see the answers you got in your previous thread?

none of them worked, and yes i tried the idle screw, i don't know what it could be, i think it might be something with the cable but not sure what, I'm new to these things, but im very interested in them

Sometimes the throttle cable can cause high idling issues. I know with my 200X it causes all kinds of problems if it's being pulled or pushed on.
Play with the throttle cable a bit, and see if it causes the engine to rev or not. If it does, then there is your problem.

So you put new O-rings in then also?

I had a problem similar to this and it turned out to be the slide in the top of the carb was not all the way down. So I sprayed it with carb clean and made sure it was down as far as it would go. Good Luck.

Yeah double check to make sure your slide is closing all the way. Also the clip in the needle should be somewhere in the middle.

i did not replace the o-rings, where could i purchase some? and its like the throttle is almost all the way out, you can press it maybe a quarter of an inch and its tapped out, therefore i play with the kill switch to take off, thanks for the info, like i said, ive never had one of these before, i learn from hands on experience, ill try to figure it out tomorrow seeing as its almost dark/icon8.png

What you paid for it is all dependent on the condition....
As for the o-rings, take it out of the intake boot and go to the local hardware store (home depot, harbor freight ,ect.) and match it up.
If your throttle isn't closing all the way, then you very likely have your carb slide in backwards. The best thing you can do is get us some pictures of the carb.

i gave $300 for it, it was my great uncles, it sat under his shed for the past 8-9 years, i cleaned the carb and poured gas in it afterwords and it fired up on the first pull, i just got the title to it yesterday

You have an air leak if the carb is spotless, you have adjusted the air/fuel mixture properly, the plug is good, and the intake and exhaust valve have been gapped properly. When it is running, spray some carb cleaner around the intake boot and intake manifold. If the engine boggs or revs then you have an air leak.

I'm going to put a new plug in it tomorrow and check the carb, and change the oil this week, any suggestions on oil? and how many quarts? and I'm rebuilding the carb this week also

Sounds like the slide is in backwards. Unscrew the cap on top, pull the slide out, turn it 180 and put it back in. You should have full throttle control again.
What stud25 said about spraying around the intake and carb with carb cleaner will eliminate the o-ring question. If it changes the RPMs any, then you have a leak.

It's probably a liner to cover up rusting or to protect it. Also for $300, you stole that trike, it'd go for 600 or so around here.

ok, i rebuilt the carb with some help, it runs, but i gotta get some gas for it and tweak with it again, it idles normal, i think it could use some new fuel lines too, but it runs, i blew some black junk out of the lines.....anybody know where i could get some replacements?
